Joan (Meyers) Glover

My garden knowledge was limited to purchasing vegetables from local farmers markets. Now, my time is spent helping with the maintenance on the farm. I help with the weed control, lawn maintenance, and maintaining a healthy, fun environment for the 25 Chicks. Once the vegetables/eggs are gathered, I handle the quality control. Each vegetable/egg is washed, inspected and packaged.

We are currently taking classes offered by the NC Extension office on Jams, Jellies and Vegetable Preservation.

We are members of the Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project (ASAP) and Carolina Farm Steward Association (CFSA). We are currently listed in the ASAP Food Guide and on their website under the category All Farms, www.asapconnections.org

I was raised in Hayesville, NC (NC Smokey Mountains) and was taught farming from my father. Even with several business "adventures" I always found the time to raise chickens and work in the garden. Our garden is immaculate! No weeds, no bugs, clean isles and the most beautiful organic veggies!

I was rewarded a 2009 Ag/Options Farm Grant to build a Greenhouse that allows us to supply organically raised plants and vegetable to the folks of Swain County, NC.
